Step Number 1

Consult your health care practitioner to assess your injury. Your primary health care practitioner can be family doctor, physical therapist, dentist or a chiropractor. They will assess your injury and provide you with a treatment plan.

Step Number 2

File an accident report with the police, if you have not done so already. If you were injured in motor vehicle accident, you must report the accident to the police. You can file a report at the scene of accident by calling 911 or at a police station.

Step Number 3

Fill out and sign the AB-1: Notice of Loss and Proof of Claim Form. This form needs to be sent to your insurance company as soon as possible. The insurance company needs this form within 10 of the accident, however, if you were unable to send it within that time-frame, submit it anyway and explain to the insurance company why you were late.

Step Number 4

Your insurance company will contact you and explain to you what benefits you are entitled after they review your form. They may also need additional information from you. Once your benefits are approved, you need to follow through your treatment plan. It is important that you attend all the sessions that your health care practitioner recommends.

Step Number 5

Contact your motor vehicle accident lawyers at The Accident Lawyers. We will ask you several questions to ensure we understand your circumstances. You may be entitled to a range of compensation benefits and we will advise you what compensation you are entitled to.  Then we will fiercely represent you to ensure you get every penny that you are entitled to.
